Modified 5A molecular sieve for chemical adsorption of low concentration SO2

In order to solve the human health problems caused by low concentration sulfur dioxide gas in confined spaces. This paper adopts the method of loading triethanolamine on modified 5A molecular sieve to prepare adsorbent for removing low concentration harmful SO2 gas.

The adsorption capacity of sulfides detected by a fixed bed reactor and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The performance of adsorbents.

The experimental results indicate that the adsorption capacity of SO2 mainly affected by the adsorption capacity of triethanolamine and the reaction temperature.

TEA/MZs-100-20 adsorbent has excellent adsorption performance for low concentration SO2 gas. At 20 ℃, when the triethanolamine loading is 100wt%, the permeation test time reaches 205min. And the saturated adsorption capacity reaches 91.41mg/ G.

The adsorption reaction mechanism for removing low concentration SO2 was through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and XPS analysis.

What are the three major advantages of 5A molecular sieve adsorbent compared to other adsorbents?

Firstly, molecular sieves have strong adsorption selectivity. This is because the pore size of the molecular sieve is uniform and homogeneous, making it an ionic adsorbent.

Therefore, it can selectively adsorb based on the size and polarity of the molecules. For example, molecular sieves can effectively remove ethylene and propylene from saturated hydrocarbons. And it can effectively remove acetylene from ethylene, which determined by their polarity.

Secondly, molecular sieves have strong adsorption capacity. Even if the concentration of gas composition is low, it still has a large adsorption capacity.

Finally, it still has a large adsorption capacity at higher temperatures, while other adsorbents more affected by temperature. So the adsorption capacity of 5A molecular sieve is larger under the same temperature conditions.

Due to the above advantages, molecular sieves have become excellent adsorbents and are widely in the production of basic organic chemicals and petrochemical products. They are also commonly to treat harmful gases such as SO2, NOx, CO, CO2, NH3, CCl4, purify water vapor and gaseous hydrocarbon waste gases.

Molecular sieve is a type of aluminosilicate compound with a cubic lattice. Molecular sieves have a uniform microporous structure with uniformly sized pores.

These pores can adsorb molecules smaller than their diameter into the interior of the pore cavity. And have a preferential adsorption ability for polar and unsaturated molecules.

Therefore, they can separate molecules with different degrees of polarity, saturation, molecular size, and boiling point, and have the function of “sieving” molecules, hence the name molecular sieve.

Due to its high adsorption capacity, strong thermal stability, and other advantages that other adsorbents do not have, molecular sieves have been widely used.
