Overview of Activated Alumina Drying Agent

Activated alumina drying agent is a highly porous and adsorptive material widely used in various industrial dehydration processes. It is typically produced through a specialized manufacturing process involving high-temperature treatment and activation of aluminum hydroxide, resulting in a structure with a large surface area and excellent moisture adsorption capacity. This versatile desiccant is available in granular or bead forms, making it suitable for applications such as gas drying, air compression systems, and water treatment.

Physical Characteristics and Specifications

  • Particle Sizes: Common particle size ranges include 2-3mm, 3-5mm, 4-6mm, 5-7mm, 6-8mm, and 12-14mm, catering to different industrial requirements.  
  • Grades: Various grades such as KA401, 402, 403, 404, 405, and 406 are available, each optimized for specific adsorption performance.
  • Packaging Options: Standard packaging is 25kg/bag, with customized packaging (minimum order 200 barrels), logo customization (100 barrels), and graphic customization (100 barrels) available for bulk orders.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Raw Material Preparation: Aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)₃) is used as the primary raw material.
  2. High-Temperature Activation: The raw material is introduced into a drying tube via a hopper. And carried by hot gas (≥300°C) generated by a burner for dehydration and activation.
  3. Cooling and Separation: Cooling gas is injected to quench the activated alumina, which is then separated into coarse and fine particles using a cyclone separator. Coarse particles are collected in a box through a rotary valve, while fine particles are captured via a duct and back filter.

Applications in Industrial Drying

  • Natural Gas Dehydration: Effectively removes moisture from natural gas streams to prevent pipeline corrosion and ensure gas quality.
  • Air Compressor Systems: Used as a desiccant in air dryers to reduce humidity in compressed air, protecting pneumatic equipment.
  • PSA Oxygen Plants: Serves as an adsorbent in pressure swing adsorption (PSA) systems for oxygen production, aiding in moisture removal.
