Overview

Pneumatic brake molecular sieves are crucial components in the pneumatic brake systems of various vehicles, including cars, heavy – duty trucks, trains, and ships. So, they play a vital role in maintaining the proper functioning of these brake systems by effectively removing moisture.

Working Principle

Molecular sieves operate on a molecular level. They have pores of a specific size. Molecules small enough to pass through the pores adsorbed, while larger molecules are not. For example, water molecules are small enough to enter the pores of the molecular sieve, and once inside, they trapped. This is why molecular sieves often function as desiccants. Moreover, A molecular sieve can adsorb water up to 22% of its own weight.

In pneumatic brake systems, the presence of moisture in the air – path system can cause significant problems. Moisture can corrode the pipelines and negatively affect the braking performance. In severe cases, it may even lead to the failure of the entire braking system. Therefore, the use of molecular sieves to remove moisture is essential to ensure the safety and reliability of the braking system.

  • Chemical Compatibility. They have excellent chemical compatibility, which allows them to work stably in the complex chemical environment of the brake system without reacting with other substances in the system.
  • High Adsorption Capacity. With a high adsorption capacity, they can effectively adsorb a large amount of water in the air – path system. For example, some pneumatic brake molecular sieves can have a static water adsorption of ≥ 20%wt.
  • High Anti – Crush Strength: They possess high anti – crush strength, which ensures that they can withstand the mechanical forces in the system without being easily broken-up.
  • Low Dust Degree: The low dust degree of these molecular sieves helps prevent dust from entering the brake system and causing additional wear or blockage.
  • High Dry and Wet Abrasion Resistance: They have good dry and wet abrasion resistance, which means they can maintain their performance even under different humidity and friction conditions.

Maintenance
