Introduction to High Purity Activated Alumina

High purity activated alumina generally refers to alumina powder or products with an alumina content of ≥99.9% (mass fraction), which has excellent mechanical, thermal and chemical properties. It is widely used in various high – tech fields due to its high purity and special activation treatment.

Properties of High Purity Activated Alumina

  • High purity : The content of alumina is above 99.9%, and the content of impurity elements is extremely low, which can ensure the stability of its performance in use.
  • Large specific surface area : It has a developed pore structure and a large specific surface area, which provides sufficient contact area for adsorption and catalytic reactions.
  • Good thermal stability : It can maintain stable physical and chemical properties at high temperatures, and is not easy to decompose or change.
  • Strong chemical inertness : It has weak reactivity with most substances and is corrosion – resistant, so it can be used in various harsh chemical environments.

Preparation Methods of High Purity Activated Alumina

  • Metal aluminum hydrolysis method : High purity aluminum hydroxide is prepared by hydrolyzing metal aluminum. And then activated alumina is obtained through calcination and activation treatment.
  • Green synthesis process from secondary aluminum dross : A promising green process for synthesis of activated – alumina nanopowder from secondary aluminum dross. This realizes the recycling of resources and is environmentally friendly.

Applications of High Purity Activated Alumina

  • Translucent ceramic materials : Due to its good light transmittance and mechanical properties. It is used to prepare high – performance translucent ceramics.
  • Single crystal materials : As an important raw material for growing single crystals, it is used in the field of optoelectronics.
  • Rare earth fluorescent materials : It can be used as a matrix or additive of rare earth fluorescent materials to improve the luminous performance.
  • Chloride removal agent : As a chloride removal agent activated alumina adsorbent, it has a good adsorption effect on chloride ions.
  • Catalyst and catalyst carrier : Due to its large specific surface area and good stability. It is widely used as a catalyst or catalyst carrier in chemical reactions.

Product Specifications and Brands

Some common product models include CR10 ultrafine activated alumina powder and CR20 ultrafine activated alumina powder, etc. These products have different particle sizes and activity levels to meet different application requirements. In addition, there are bead – shaped activated alumina adsorbents with sizes ranging from 2 – 3mm to 12 – 14mm.
